A destination for grown-ups who haven't

outgrown going out!

The Corner House, a continental-style café bar, has found a niche in the market place since opening on the corner of Parchment Street & North Walls in June 2009. It is open for breakfast until late every day and is styled on the "cafe culture" found in London and continental Europe. The shabby chic interior creates a relaxed, informal environment for a cup of authentic Italian coffee, a continental lager or fine wine not forgetting a very varied Hampshire sourced menu.

Local resident and experienced pub retailer, Jayne Gillin, saw a gap in the Winchester market and the Corner House is designed to fill it. She commented, "I often struggled to get into my favourite pubs and restaurants as they are so busy. There is definitely room for another good place to go: somewhere you can talk, relax with friends, listen to good music and have some scrumptious nibbles or a meal. I particularly wanted to open somewhere where ladies are happy to pop in for a drink either on their own or with other female friends. We also fulfil the need to provide a space with internet access for small informal meetings. Local places tend to be either hotels, restaurants or male dominated pubs, whereas we appeal to different people at different times of the day eventually morphing into a great evening venue."

The Corner House serves breakfast, brunches, lunches and afternoon teas. Evenings can be deli platters for the post work chill out accompanied by a glass of fine "non-supermarket" wine or a beer from an extensive range including local legend - "Flower Pots". On Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights the two or three course fixed price dinner is proving to be hugely popular and booking is highly recommended!
